Leicester City U16 2 Little Eaton U16 0

A first defeat of the season for a depleted and very much under strength Little Eaton team. They fought hard against a strong Leicester team, but in the end lost to a goal in each half. Little Eaton started brightly and could have taken the lead within the first 5 minutes when Summer latched on to a good through ball from Katy Brown and knocked the ball just wide. Leicester built up some pressure as the half wore on, but the defence held up well. Hannah put in some particularly strong tackles at full back and was well supported by Nicole and Jade. However the real heroines were Paige and Chloe. Paige showed what a high quality goalkeeper she is, and Chloe was a commanding figure at the back with a series of strong tackles and timely interceptions. Leicester took the lead on the half hour with a fine header, Paige did brilliantly to get a hand to it, but just couldn't keep it out.

Little Eaton continued to battle hard in the second half and there was powerful runs forward from Vicky and Mel who were looking really dangerous. Summer battled hard as the lone striker and was a danger to the leicester defence throughout the game. Little Eaton twice went close after superb work from Vicky and Summer, but the game was settled 15 minutes from time with a breakaway goal for Leicester.

There were a number of good performances in the Little Eaton team with captain and goalkeeper Paige inspirational, but the player of the match went to Chloe for her outstanding defensive work throughout.

The Manager commented , on how very proud of them all he was and he felt they were unlucky not to come away with an goal or even an point today.
